Personal Life

Draupadi Murmu was born on June 20, 1958, to a Santali family in the Baidaposi neighborhood of Rairangpur, Odisha, in the village of Uparbeda. Her dad Biranchi Narayan Tudu was a rancher. Her dad and granddad were customary heads (assigned Sarpanch) of the town gathering (Gram Panchayat). Puti Tudu was her family name. She was renamed by her teacher to Draupadi, and her name was changed a few times to those remembering Durpadi and Dorpdi for the past.

Early Career

Murmu worked as a junior assistant in the irrigation department of the Odisha government from 1979 to 1983. She then taught Hindi, Odia, mathematics, and geography at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research Centre in Rairangpur from 1994 to 1997. Political Career

Draupadi Murmu won the Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat council seat reserved for women as an independent candidate in 1997. After that, she became a member of the BJP.

She won the 2000 Odisha Regulative Gathering political race from Rairangpur Get together voting public and served two terms in the Odisha Authoritative Gathering somewhere in the range of 2000 and 2009. Governor of Jharkhand (2015 - 2021)

On May 18, 2015, Murmu took the oath of office as Governor of Jharkhand, becoming the first woman to do so. During the majority of her six-year term as governor, the BJP was in charge of both the Jharkhand Government and the Union Government. In 2019, she took Hemant Soren's oath of office as Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Presidency (2022 - Present)

Draupadi Murmu took the oath of office as the 15th President of India on July 26, 2022. The 48th Chief Justice of India, N. V. Ramana, administered the oath in the presence of former Presidents, Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers, and other delegates.

She is the first person to be elected president from one of India's designated tribal communities. She is the most youthful and first individual brought into the world after India's freedom in 1947 to have been chosen president.
